A Christmas of Hope: Janneet’s Story from Kitezi 🎄

For single mother Janneet Nalumansi, the holiday season often brought worry instead of joy. With three young children to care for and no steady income, she frequently faced the difficult choice of skipping meals so her children could eat.

"Some days, we would have only a small meal of porridge," Janneet recalls. "I worried constantly about their health and if they would have enough to eat."

This year, however, everything changed. On December 13, 2025, volunteers from Carelite Foundation visited her home as part of our Christmas Food Distribution initiative. Carrying parcels filled with staple foods, treats, and essentials, the team went door to door to ensure families with little to no means could experience the joy of Christmas.

When Janneet opened the door, her eyes filled with tears of gratitude. She watched her children’s faces light up as they received nutritious food and festive treats—a simple gesture that brought laughter, excitement, and relief into her home.

"For the first time in years, my children will enjoy Christmas with a proper meal," she shared. "It felt like hope had returned to our home."

The impact went beyond the immediate relief. For Janneet, receiving the food parcels meant she could spend quality time with her children without the constant stress of hunger, creating memories and joy that she thought were impossible this year. She could celebrate, cook, and share meals with her children, giving them a sense of normalcy and happiness that many take for granted.

This initiative also highlights the power of community and volunteerism. Our dedicated volunteers walked door to door, sharing smiles, laughter, and Christmas cheer, while donors ensured that the resources to make this possible were available. Every parcel delivered was a symbol of care, solidarity, and hope, reminding families like Janneet’s that they are not alone.

"It’s not just the food," Janneet says. "It’s the thought that someone cared enough to remember us during Christmas. That feeling of being valued and seen—it’s priceless."

At Carelite Foundation, we know that Christmas is more than a celebration—it’s an opportunity to bring light into the lives of those who need it most. By focusing on the stories of people like Janneet, we are reminded that even small acts of kindness can create moments of immense joy and lasting impact.

This Christmas, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, a few families in Kitezi were able to share meals, laughter, and hope, celebrating a holiday they might otherwise have gone without.

Your support can help us reach more families like Janneet’s, bringing nourishment, hope, and happiness—one family at a time.
